LITELOK X1 Saves Royal Enfield in Bristol #124

Mike didn’t expect his bike to become a target, but living without off-street parking meant his Royal Enfield was always exposed. Like many riders in urban areas, he did everything right: layering security, choosing reputable locks, and adding visible deterrents.

On Friday, 17 April, Mike’s motorcycle, valued at around £2,800, was targeted in an attempted theft in Bristol between 12:00pm - 6:00am.

“Last weekend thieves attempted to steal my Royal Enfield Meteor 350. Unfortunately I have nowhere to park it but in the road.”

Parking on the street significantly increases risk, especially overnight. That’s why we always recommend a layered approach—combining multiple lock types, and crucially, at least one Sold Secure Diamond-rated lock for maximum resistance against modern theft tools.

“Apart from the steering lock, tracker with alert and a cover over it I had an alock, disclock, padlock and chain and Litelok X1 attached.”

Mike had gone above and beyond. Multiple locks, a tracker, an alarm, and a cover. This is exactly the kind of setup that should deter thieves. But today’s criminals often come prepared with powerful angle grinders, capable of defeating many standard locks in seconds.

“Most of these failed to deter the potential thieves, cutting through the other locks with apparent ease even though they were Sold Secure gold rated.”

This is where the difference becomes clear. While Sold Secure Gold offers strong protection, it’s increasingly not enough in high-risk urban environments. Thieves know what they’re up against, and they bring tools to match.

“However, when they tried cutting through the Litelok, my last line of defence this caused them to give up their attempt.”

The LITELOK X1 did exactly what it was designed to do: stop the attack. When everything else failed, it held firm, buying crucial time and ultimately forcing the thieves to abandon the theft.

“Got up in morning, bike on the ground, two lock cut through but thieves defeated by the Litelok.”

Despite their efforts, the attackers couldn’t get past the X1. That final barrier made the difference between a stolen motorcycle and a saved one.

“I assume in frustration they pushed the bike over before departing.”

A clear sign of defeat. When thieves can’t win, they often leave damage behind, but the important thing is, they left without the bike.

“Didn’t hear a thing so grateful for my Litelok!”

And that’s the key takeaway. In high-risk areas, we strongly recommend using a Sold Secure Diamond-rated lock like the LITELOK X1 or upgrading to the X3 for even greater protection. These locks are specifically engineered to withstand prolonged, aggressive attacks from angle grinders, the very tools thieves rely on today.

“I would be interested in upgrading to a Litelok X3 for even more reassurance”

Mike did everything right, but it was the LITELOK X1 that ultimately saved his motorcycle.
