LITELOK X1 Saves Motorcycle in Grimsby #120

In the early hours of the morning, when most people are fast asleep, motorcycle thieves are often just getting started. For Dan, the 27th of February in Grimsby, Northeast Lincolnshire, could have ended in frustration, expense, and the loss of his daily ride. Instead, it became a powerful example of how the right security can make all the difference.

Dan had a layered security setup in place, exactly what we always recommend. Alongside his LITELOK X1, he was also using a chain from another brand to secure his bike. Reflecting on the incident, he recalls how it all unfolded:

“happened this morning at approx 3am. Bike was only a 125cc so about £3k, had it locked to a thick noose end chain (Hiplok) and anchored to a concrete post.
I kind of knew motorbike theft was a problem but given I'm more security conscious than most it would never happen to me.”

Like many riders, Dan had taken precautions. His bike wasn’t left carelessly parked; it was secured with a chain and anchored to a fixed point. Still, as the night unfolded, it became clear that determined thieves aren’t easily discouraged.

“Basically, they started attacking it with an angle grinder causing lots of noise, neighbour's dog started barking which woke me up. I went straight to the window to see what the fuss was, as I approached saw my back gate wide open, then my cover on the floor and finally the two young men, seeing me looking out decided to run.”

What made the thieves give up? What slowed them down enough for Dan to intervene?

“they just attacked the Litelok as that was the only thing holding the bike there really apart from a disc lock.”

Despite being faced with a powerful tool designed to cut through metal, the attackers only managed to get through the rubber coating, causing damage to the outer layer rather than the lock itself. To make any further progress into the core material, they would have needed significantly more time, more discs, and more battery power. That added resistance created noise, delayed the attack, and ultimately forced the thieves to abandon their attempt, giving Dan the crucial time he needed to react and protect his bike.

“It's my daily to work so can't emphasise how much I rely on it and would have sucked if I had lost it.”

For many riders, a motorcycle isn’t just a possession, it’s essential for daily life. Losing it can mean missed work, unexpected costs, and major disruption.

Dan’s experience highlights a crucial reality: no security setup is completely untouchable, but the right lock can make theft significantly harder, louder, and riskier. And often, that’s enough to stop criminals in their tracks.

The LITELOK X1 didn’t just protect a motorcycle, it bought time, created deterrence, and ultimately prevented a theft.
