When riders invest in a premium motorcycle like the BMW R1300GS, security becomes more than an afterthought, it becomes essential.

Recently, David got in touch with us after an attempted theft at the Village Hotel Swansea, and his story is exactly why we created the LITELOK X range.
“Your lock saved my r1300gs from a theft in Swansea last night. When I return to Dublin I shall be purchasing a new lock. Thanks ”
From the image David shared, it appears the thieves used an angle grinder, now one of the most common tools used in motorcycle thefts across the world. Angle grinder attacks are exactly the type of theft the LITELOK X range was designed to resist.

David later shared more details about what happened that night:
“The attempted theft on Tuesday 5th May at 1am. Location was the village hotel in Swansea. I was awoken by my by monimoto tracker.”
David’s tracker alert gave him crucial awareness of what was happening, and highlights why we always recommend using multiple layers of security to protect your motorcycle. A high-quality lock can physically resist an attack, while a tracker can alert you instantly if thieves target your bike. Together, they create a far stronger defence against theft.
“Only for the x3 lock I’d have no bike which is worth circa 20k euro.”
High-value adventure bikes like the BMW R1300GS are increasingly targeted by organised thieves. In many cases, criminals rely on speed: arrive quickly, cut the lock, and disappear before anyone can react.

But resistance changes everything.
The LITELOK X3 is engineered specifically to withstand prolonged angle grinder attacks, buying riders valuable time and creating enough difficulty to force thieves to abandon the attempt.
And in David’s case, that made all the difference.
“Lucky escape but your lock is the best piece of kit ever. I’ll be ordering another lock soon, actually I think 2 of them. Well done Litelok, you saved me from a serious loss.”
Stories like David’s are exactly why we continue to innovate motorcycle security. Because a lock should do more than delay a thief, it should stop them in their tracks.

In this case, the theft attempt failed, and David kept his BMW R1300GS exactly where it belonged, with its owner.
That’s the kind of protection every rider deserves.
