LITELOK X1 Saves E-Mountain Bike in Edinburgh #108

Between the 19th and 20th of January, Emma faced an attempted theft of her E-mountain bike in Edinburgh. Thanks to her robust security setup, the thief was unable to take the bike, leaving it completely safe and secure. This incident highlights just how important high-quality locks are, especially in cities where bike theft is unfortunately common.

“I just wanted to let you know that someone has attempted to steal my bike sometime in the last 24 hours and been thwarted. I also have a Knog bike alarm and think the combo of the litelok and the alarm thwarted their attempts. Having had a bike stolen before, I’m delighted to see they were not successful!”

From looking at the images, we can tell there was an angle grinder attack on the LITELOK X1 and the would-be bike thieves only managed to get through the rubber outer layer, barely scratching the surface of the steel.

“The attempt was made in a private garage in an apartment complex in Edinburgh. The bike is worth £3.5K (specialized e-mountain bike). I’m unsure of what exactly happened; my bike has been locked up over the weekend and I went to unlock it for my commute to work this morning and found it like this. It doesn’t look like they’ve tried for too long so they may have been spooked by something/someone!”

Even in private garages, where your bike is generally considered safe, it’s wise to use strong security measures to deter potential thieves. In cities like Edinburgh, we recommend using at least one lock that is resistant to angle grinders.
