LITELOK X1 Saves E-Bike in Seattle #62

In the early morning hours of May 4th in Seattle, Washington, a team of experienced bike thieves broke into a secured residential bike locker. Within just four minutes, they made off with two e-bikes and an e-scooter. But not every bike was taken.

Justin, the owner of a $1,200 Radrunner 2 E-bike, reached out to share their experience—and how a single decision protected his investment.

Justin's bike had been locked to a bike rack by the rear frame, as seen in the surveillance footage from the scene. At around 1 minute and 15 seconds into the video, one of the would-be thieves approaches Justin’s bike and attempts to cut the lock.

“A crew of 4 bike thieves broke into my apartment's bike locker. Within 4 minutes, 2 e-bikes and 1 e-scooter was stolen. The thieves tried to steal my e-bike by cutting my X1 with an angle grinder. They gave up in a minute when they couldn't defeat my X1. They moved on to other locks and quickly cut 3 of them within 3 minutes. My e-bike definitely would've been stolen had it not been for Litelok.”

Justin’s LITELOK X1 held firm—causing the thieves to abandon their attempt and move on.

This incident is a powerful reminder that not all locks are created equal. In a world where organized bike theft crews operate with speed and specialised tools, the right lock can make the difference between loss and protection.

Thanks to his choice of using LITELOK, Justin’s e-bike is still with him today.
